If you have worked with others to decide on some goals for your Pew Packers program, then you are ready to start developing plans for lessons. Begin by listing the topics that are fundamental to Bible class. Ask yourself, "What should every 5-year-old know about the Bible?" When you have finished your list, go back over each topic and confirm that it has multiple connections to other Bible topics. Another good question to ask is, "Why should we discuss these topics?" As you define your reasons for studying each topic, you might think of specific information that relates to it. These specific points can be called "learning targets" because you will want to make sure your songs and discussions contain the information in your lists.
This plan is given as an example because it has one topic for each month. Four learning targets are listed for each topic so that the leader can choose to focus on one target each week.
